There’s a popular business aphorism that the reason “why” you do something is sometimes more important than “what” it is you’re actually doing. After all, the “what” may change over time, as you adopt new business processes and pursue new business opportunities; but your “why” is likely to hold true, as long as you stay true to yourself.
The Reason in our Roots
We exist to bring power to the people.
The Theory
Our purpose is to make it easier, simpler, faster, and more affordable for business owners to create a new website.
Our platform is part of a larger movement to democratize the web; and with it, to democratize the business startup process itself, thereby enabling creative people with an entrepreneurial spirit to pursue new projects with less capital overhead.
The Challenge
In many years as a professional web designer, founder Jesse Smith observed over and over again that the up front pricing model of traditional website development services is cost prohibitive for many small businesses and would-be startups.
The Solution
As an alternative, we built the Cascadia Branding Co. platform over the course of two years, leveraging a number of open-source technologies and resources, notably WordPress. (It wasn’t supposed to take that long; but we wanted to get it right.) This technology makes a different pricing model possible.
The new pricing model allows your company to create a web presence almost instantaneously, for only the cost of an affordable monthly subscription.
The Hope
In other words, in our view, the purpose of Cascadia Branding Co. is to democratize the process of starting and marketing a new business (or rebranding an existing business, or entering a new market). We are trying to help democratize capitalism itself.
And of course, we intend to do this while upholding the values of the people of Cascadia: people who value human diversity and our beautiful natural environment. People like you.
